This song is not really a beginner song, but it isn’t super difficult either.  I guess you could classify it as an intermediate song as you will need to play a few barre chords and some of the chord changes are a bit tricky. It really is a great song to practice with though.

This is an easy version of this song and only requires that you know several basic chords.  For this particular tutorial, you will need to use a capo on the 4th fret.  The chord shapes are: A Minor, G Major (Marty plays a slightly different version of the G Major chord in the lesson below, but a normal G Major chord will work just fine), F Major (Don’t worry. You do not need to know the Barre Chord Version of F Major. Marty demonstrates a much easier way to play it below.) and C Major.

For the most part, this is a fairly easy acoustic guitar song to play. There are only two parts to this song that may give you some trouble at first.  The first is the strumming pattern as it is played rather fast. Its a little tricky, but with practice you can do it.   The pattern as taught in the lesson below is: Down Up Down Up Up Up Up Down Up.  Marty breaks that down slowly for you in the lesson.  The other tricky part is the switch over to the B Major Chord.  Now if you aren’t able to play this chord just yet, you can substitute it with an easier power chord or a B7 chord.  Do not rush through this song. Play it very slowly until you can switch between chords without error, then you can gradually increase the tempo.
