Learn how to play the Eadd11 guitar chord with this free tutorial. To form this chord, we need to take the 1,3,5 and 11 positions from the E Major Scale: E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, and D#. When we do this, we come up with the notes: E, G#, B and A. The E add 11 chord is just the E Major Chord with an added A note (the 11th step of the E Major Scale). Hence the name, E Add11. This chord sounds more difficult than it actually is. It is a very easy and basic beginner guitar chord to play.

The chord chart below demonstrates how to play the Eadd11 guitar chord.

Here is a key that will help you read the chart:

Everything on the above chart should be self explanatory, except for the last three in the third column. They may need a bit of explaining. The O, or open symbol, simply means that you do not press down on any notes on that string. The X symbol means we do not play that particular string. The Barre symbol means you need to barre that particular fret. When you barre a fret you are pressing down on multiple strings at the same time with one finger.

Here is another great lesson taught by David Taub with Next Level Guitar. I feature a lot of videos from these folks and with good reason. I believe David and the folks over at Next Level Guitar are a group of excellent guitar instructors. Their lessons are easy to follow and you can tell its not just about business. They have a passion for playing guitar and a sincere interest in helping others. That being said, you can learn more about them here by reading my David Taub Next Level Guitar Review, should you want to invest into your guitar playing. After all, free lessons can only take you so far.

In the following video tutorial, David is going to teach you a very interesting chord progression/strumming pattern. The purpose of this lesson is to break you away from playing the same old chords and progressions and teach you something new and challenging.

The chords he will be using in the lesson below are: Am9, Gadd6, Fmaj7#11 and Em. Not to worry, none of these are barre chords, but you may find the Gadd6 and Fmaj7#11 chord shapes a bit challenging at first. They both have the same shape, so it is just a matter of playing the same shape at different locations on the neck. David will demonstrate how to play every chord within this progression.

I hope this lesson proves to be helpful and forces you to try something new so that you can bring your guitar playing to the Next Level. Enjoy!

In this post, you will be learning how to play the Fmaj7#11 guitar chord (also known as Fmaj7(#11)). This chord sounds a lot more difficult than it really is. It is not really an advanced chord, but I wouldn’t classify it as a beginner one either. It is sort of in between your basic open chord and a barre chord. This is a beautiful sort of dark and dreamy sounding chord.

The Fmaj7#11 chord is found by locating the 1, 3 , 5, 7 and #11 positions (F, A, C, E and B) of the F Major Scale: F G A Bb C D E . See the chord chart below.

//-->

<script type="text/javascript"

Here is a key that will help you read the chart:

Chord Playing Tips: Be sure that you are pressing down on the strings hard enough. You should play each string one at a time to make sure you have a nice clean sound. If any of the strings buzz or sound muted, then something is not right.

In this post you will discover some great tips, techniques and exercises that will help you switch between your basic beginner open guitar chords easier and faster. In order to become better at this, you need to learn some tricks of the trade as well as put in the proper amount of practice time. Eventually, learning how to switch between chords will become second nature.

The very first thing you need to do is to limit yourself to only learning a couple of chords at a time. If you try to learn too many things at once, there is a good chance you will become overwhelmed and that is only going to get you more frustrated. So try and tackle two chords at a time. Start with a very easy chord change, say E Minor to A Major.

There are some really effective techniques you can learn that will really help burn these chord changes into your muscle memory. Here is one that Marty discusses in the video lesson below. Play an open D Major Chord and try to keep that chord shape with your fingers. Now with your fingers still holding that shape, move your hand away from the guitar and then back to the fretboard and play the same chord again. Repeat again and then do the same thing with another chord shape. This kind of repetition is what really burns these chord shapes into your memory and helps you learn faster.

Check out the video below for more great tips and techniques from Marty Schwartz!
