Advanced Acoustic Guitar Lesson – Learn How to Play Hotel California
Hotel California by the Eagles is undoubtedly one of the greatest classic rock songs of all time and one of the Eagles most popular songs. Hotel California is the title song from the album of the same name and was released as a single in 1977. When people think of the Eagles, the first song to come to mind will probably be this one.
This song has a number of accolades attributed to it:
- Hotel California was on the Bilboard Hot 100 list for one week in 1977.
- It was certified Platinum in 2009
- The eagles won a grammy for best record of the year with thier release of Hotel California back in 1977
- It’s number 49 on Rolling Stones Greatest Songs of All Time List.
With all that being said, it is no wonder why so many guitarists find this song irresistible. This song is definitely an advanced guitar song and probably a song beginners will find challenging.
These video lessons below represent only one way of playing this song. It is definitely the easiest way in my opinion as it uses a capo and thereby avoids the complicated barre chords, so it may be within reach of beginner guitarists after all. Who knows, you decide!
These lessons include everything from the intro to the guitar solos If you scroll down past the video, you will also find links to chords and lyrics. Enjoy!

Here is another easy guitar song for you Pink Floyd fans. This song is called “Mother” and it is off the album “The Wall”, which is one of Pink Floyd’s most popular albums. Mother is probably one of their easiest songs to play as it only uses four chords, and these chords are all basic. The only chord you may struggle with is the F Chord. If you do not already have the F chord down, check out this lesson for an easier way to play the F chord. In the post below I have included a video lesson from YouTube on how to play Mother, as well as a link to the chords and lyrics. How to String a Classical Acoustic Guitar
Learning how to string a classical acoustic guitar is not the same as changing the strings on a steel string guitar. A classical guitar uses nylon strings, which are completely different from steel strings. I have gathered together a few excellent video lessons from YouTube below that should have you changing your strings like a pro.
