A Flat Major Chord Notes: Ab, C and Eb.

This is an advanced chord and rather challenging if you are just beginning. I have included 4 different versions of this chord below in the chord charts. The very last version is the easiest of the 4.

Here is a key that will help you read the charts:

Everything on the above chart should be self explanatory, except for the last three in the third column. They may need a bit of explaining. The O, or open symbol, simply means that you do not press down on any notes on that string. The X means you do not strum that particular string. The Barre symbol means you need to barre that particular fret. When you barre a fret you are pressing down on multiple strings at the same time with one finger.

Chord Playing Tips

Be sure that you are pressing down on the strings hard enough and play each string one at a time to make sure you have a nice clean sound. If any of the strings buzz or sound muted, then something is not right.

Advanced Guitar Chord Lesson -- F Sharp Minor (F#m)

Learn how to play the advanced F Sharp Minor Barre chord (Also known as F#m, Gb minor, G flat minor) on guitar, with this free guitar chord lesson. The F Sharp Minor Guitar Chord is not an easy chord to finger if you are a beginner. It is a barre chord and a good amount of strength is required to play it, as you must hold down all six strings at the same time with one finger. This is especially difficult to do if you are playing this chord on an acoustic guitar. The key to barre chords is building up strength and is in the way you press down your barre finger.

This is a great video that will demonstrate some techniques for playing barre chords correctly.

The F#m Guitar Chord is found by locating the 1, 3 and 5 positions (F#, A and C#) of the F# Minor Scale: F#, G#, A, B, C#, D, and E

So the notes of the F#m chord are: F#, A and C#

Like most chords, there is more than one way to play the F# Minor Guitar Chord. Listed below in the chord chart diagram is the F#m chord played on the second fret.

Here is a key that will help you read the chart:

It takes a long time for many beginners to finally learn barre chords. Just keep practicing and eventually you will build up enough strength to where barre chords become second nature.

Like most chords, there are several different ways to play the Bsus4 chord. I have listed two different ways you can play it below. One is a barre chord and the other is not. The non-barre version of this chord is easier, but still a bit difficult as you have to stretch your fingers somewhat in order to finger this chord.

Once you learn to play it, you will understand why. It just has a real bluesy sound to it. This chord is a barre chord and a bit more advanced than the other easier blues chords like the A7, E7 or C7 chords. If you haven’t been playing guitar all that long, you may find barre chords challenging at first.

The F7 Chord is found by first locating the 1(root note), 3 and 5 positions (F, A and C) of the F Major Scale: F, G, A, B Flat, C, D, and E, and then adding a flat 7 note. To locate the flat 7 note, we first find the 7th note of the F Major scale (E) and then go back a 1/2 step to the E Flat. The F7 guitar chord chart below will help you better understand how to play this chord.

So the notes of the F7 Chord are: F, A, C and E Flat .

Here is a key that will help you read the chart:

Chord Playing Tip: Be sure that you are pressing down on the string hard enough. You should play each string one at a time to make sure you have a nice clean sound. If any of the strings buzz or sound muted, then something is not right.
