I must admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of Green Day until after they released this single. Once I heard this song, I began to appreciate their other music a bit more. This song is easy to play yet has the ability to be very “catchy” and can stick in your head for days… Don’t you love songs like that?

As David explains in the video below, the original song is played using an arpeggio technique. An arpeggio in guitar is when you play each note of a chord separately instead of strumming them all at once.
