Free Guitar Chord Lesson -- Learn How To Play The F Major Chord

The F chord is one of the most difficult chords for beginners to master. The F chord is a barre chord.  Abarre chord is when one or more of your fingers are used to press down multiple strings at a time. This is extremely difficult for a beginner as you need a lot of strength in your hands to get a clean sounding chord. This does not mean that the F chord is impossible, it simply means that you have to practice and build up strength in your hands.

The problem is, that there are many songs that you probably will want to learn how to play that require the F chord. The good news is, that there is a much easier way to play the F chord.

The F Chord is found in the F Major Scale.  The notes of the F Major Scale are: F G A Bb C D E F.  Now to find the F Major Chord, we would locate the 1, 3 and 5 (F, A and C) of the F Major Scale.

So the notes of the F Major Chord are: F, A and C.  You will find a chart diagram below that illustrates an easy way to play this difficult chord as well as a video demonstration.
