Here is another great lesson taught by David Taub with Next Level Guitar. I feature a lot of videos from these folks and with good reason. I believe David and the folks over at Next Level Guitar are a group of excellent guitar instructors. Their lessons are easy to follow and you can tell its not just about business. They have a passion for playing guitar and a sincere interest in helping others. That being said, you can learn more about them here by reading my David Taub Next Level Guitar Review, should you want to invest into your guitar playing. After all, free lessons can only take you so far.

In the following video tutorial, David is going to teach you a very interesting chord progression/strumming pattern. The purpose of this lesson is to break you away from playing the same old chords and progressions and teach you something new and challenging.

The chords he will be using in the lesson below are: Am9, Gadd6, Fmaj7#11 and Em. Not to worry, none of these are barre chords, but you may find the Gadd6 and Fmaj7#11 chord shapes a bit challenging at first. They both have the same shape, so it is just a matter of playing the same shape at different locations on the neck. David will demonstrate how to play every chord within this progression.

I hope this lesson proves to be helpful and forces you to try something new so that you can bring your guitar playing to the Next Level. Enjoy!

Here is a new strumming pattern lesson for acoustic guitar. It is taught by David Taub with Next Level Guitar. This is an 11 minute video excerpt from Next Level Guitar’s “Acoustic Guitar Technqiues” 4 DVD course that includes over 8 hours of instruction. Highly recommended if you want to take your Guitar Playing to the next level.

One of the biggest challenges for many beginners is learning new strumming patterns. You can hear the pattern in your head and it sounds simple enough, but your hands will not cooperate at first. This is to be expected. One of the best things you can do to make things much easier is to Slow down at first. I believe beginners place far too much importance on speed when playing guitar. Do not fall into this trap. This is not a race. If you play to fast in the beginning you are going to develop very bad playing habits that are difficult to break.

Another thing to keep in mind, as David points out in the video below, is that you do not need to play any chords at first while learning a new strumming pattern. You can mute the strings and focus only on the pattern at first until you are able to play it correctly, then play it again with the chords.

Another important thing to keep in mind, that will really help, is your “Strumming Mechanics”, as David likes to put it. It is important to get your arm into the strum so that it pivots at the elbow. Many beginners will strum incorrectly by using only their wrists. Make certain that you are strumming all of the necessary strings. Many students will miss the higher strings as they strum because they are letting their arm sort of fall away from the guitar as they strum. David will describe and demonstrate all of this below.

For the examples that David will demonstrate in the video tutorial below, you will only need to know 2 basic chords that are very easy to play and those chords are: G Major and Cadd9.

Its a great way to add a percussive element to your guitar playing. I hope you enjoy this cool little trick!

My personal review…

Learn more about Next Level Guitar from an actual guitarist and customer…

My name is Ralph and I am the founder and webmaster of this website, Learn-acoustic-guitar.com. I started playing guitar roughly three years ago and it wasn’t until last year that my guitar playing abilities really began to skyrocket, and it was all because of Next Level Guitar.

Next Level Guitar is one of the best guitar courses available online today, period. I am not saying all of this to hype this product up. There is enough of that going around online already. I am saying this, because I honestly believe that Next Level Guitar is going to change your guitar playing life! There is no system online that comes close as far as simplicity and fun are concerned.

Next Level Guitar is jam packed with an assortment of awesome instructional videos . They have produced everything from learning guitar chords to playing full songs . The song lessons are my favorite. I have learned so many new songs since joining. Enough to keep my friends and family entertained for hours!

Next Level Guitar does not use old worn out methods that will leave your bored and frustrated. You will learn the essential fundamentals of guitar playing that are required to build a solid foundation and enable you to progress much quicker than any other instructional DVD learning systems out there. You will learn rock solid principles and techniques and how to avoid developing bad habits that can really be a detriment to your guitar playing.

Next Level Guitar includes methods that are often overlooked in other programs, like “Structure” for instance, so you know exactly how and what to practice. Included are easy to follow practice routines to ensure you are practicing the right things and not wasting your time. Next Level Guitar uses popular songs as vehicles to learn strumming, new chords, rhythm, timing, and chord changes. All essential building blocks to learning the guitar.

Everything is taught in an easy to follow and fun manner so that you are never bored or confused. Practice is no longer like practice, but rather a fun and enjoyable way to learn guitar. This teaching methodology has helped hundreds and hundreds of guitar players all over the world.

These methods really work!

They are fun and will have you playing the guitar fast!

I give Next Level Guitar two huge thumbs up! Head on over to their site today and start taking your guitar playing to the Next Level!
