David Bowie Space Oddity Guitar Lesson

Learn how to play the song “Space Oddity” by David Bowie” with this free acoustic guitar lesson. This song was written and performed by David Bowie and was released as a single in 1969.  This song also appears on his album “David Bowie”.

This is a beginner to intermediate guitar song.  I say this because there are some basic beginner chords as well as some barre chords.  There are some really great chord changes in this song and it’s great practice for a beginner who wants to take his or her playing to a different level.

Here are the chords that you need to be familiar with in order to play along with Marty Schwartz in the video lesson below.  This song is in standard tuning without a capo.

Chords: C Major, E Minor, Am7 , D/F# (You can play a D major chord if you aren’t able to wrap your thumb around and hit the F# note on the top string), E7, F Major, F Minor, Fmaj7, Em7, Bbmaj7, G Major, A Major, E Major

There are definitely a lot of chords in this song, but as I said earlier, it’s a great song to take your beginner playing to a higher level.
